Ex-Lions CB Nevin Lawson suspended for 2 games for performance-enhancing drugs

Former Detroit Lions cornerback Nevin Lawson is facing a two-game suspension from the NFL for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Lawson’s suspension appeared on the NFL’s transaction sheet on Friday. He does have the ability to appeal the suspension.

Lawson signed with the Las Vegas Raiders prior to the 2019 season after spending his first five years with the Lions. He was a regular starter in Detroit and notable for his strong tackling, as well as his inability to create plays on the ball. Lawson started 14 games over the last two years for the Raiders, logging 85 total tackles and forcing two fumbles.

Starting the season on suspension is nothing new for Lawson. He missed the first four games in the 2019 season for the same violation and was suspended for the 2020 opener for swinging his helmet at a player in 2019.
