Ex-Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas makes Roman Abramovich claim and delivers message to Thomas Tuchel

Of the weirder summer transfers to happen, Cesc Fabregas' decision to join Serie B side Como is up there with the best of them.

The Spaniard has now added the Italian side to his list of luxurious club locations, going along with Monaco, two stints in London and Barcelona.

On the face of the deal it seems strange, but the link for the three-time Premier League winner is that former Chelsea player Dennis Wise is the chairman of the northern Italian side and Fabregas' involvement will see him become co-owner of Como.

After leaving Chelsea, the now 35-year-old went to Monaco, playing 68 times across three and a half seasons in France, though he only made two league appearances in Ligue 1 last term, now seeing him transfer ambitions to a different part of the game before he turns to management one day.

In the immediate future though he still wants to be playing and has given a key message to Chelsea's new signings and Thomas Tuchel ahead of the new season.

"Many things have happened; changing the owner is always tough," he said in an interview with Sky Sports. "Roman [Abramovich] has been outstanding at the football club, he invested time, money, and knowledge."

Fabregas was one of the most successful buys in the Abramovich era, coming in to win two titles in his four years at the club. With Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital overseeing a new era at Stamford Bridge, the Spaniard expects the club to keep up its old standards.

"The thing with Chelsea is that they are obliged to win, to be competing always. I was there for five years and the mindset there is to win, to win, that is what I love about the place.

"Whether they are playing well or not so well, whether they are up or down, they are always there at the end of the day and it always makes me happy for sure."
