Ex-Bolton Wanderers, Sheffield United and Crewe Alexandra striker joins new club

Former Bolton Wanderers striker Shaun Miller has joined non-league side Nantwich Town.

The 33-year-old was released by Wanderers over the summer after helping the club win automatic promotion to League One.

Miller went on to play 24 times in all competitions at the University of Bolton Stadium club, finding the back of the net on four occasions after joining the club on a one-year deal last campaign.

Largely coming off the bench during his time at the club, he scored memorable late winners for Bolton away to Southend United and at home against Barrow as Wanderers secured automatic promotion to League One.

Miller - who has also represented the likes of Sheffield United, Coventry City, Carlisle United and Morecambe during his playing career after coming through the youth team ranks at Crewe Alexandra - departed Bolton earlier this summer following the conclusion of his deal at the club.

And he has now linked up with the Dabbers, having turned out for Dave Cooke's side in a pre-season friendly against Altrincham.

Miller started the club's latest pre-season friendly over the weekend, scoring twice in a 3-2 win over Chester FC.

Nantwich boss Cooke said: “We actually spoke to Shaun last season, but he was offered a football league contract which he took, so it’s nice to finally get him signed.

"We’re delighted that he’s joined, he brings a wealth of experience to the side which is invaluable at this level.

"He’s scored a lot of goals in the Football League and he’s a local lad, which will certainly mean that the fans will get behind in on match-days.

"We’re very pleased to be able get Shaun on board in time for the new season”
