An "evil" teen jailed for kicking a father to death in a homophobic attack was a "daddy's girl" who "had gone off the rails" after her parents split, neighbours have claimed.
Dionne Timms-Williams, then 16, was spotted laughing by a witness as she punched and kicked Dr Gary Jenkins during a horrific attack in July last year.
Father-of-two Dr Jenkins, 54, was attacked in the shadow of a historic castle, with audio CCTV capturing his dying pleas for help.
A court heard Dr Jenkins went into Bute Park, Cardiff, in the early hours of the morning when Timms-Williams and two others attacked him.
Timms-Williams could be heard shouting "do it" in a 15-minute recording, while she called the helpless victim a "f***ing pig".
She was later seen smirking in her custody picture and showed no remorse for the sickening assault.
Timms-Williams, now 17, Jason Edwards, 25, and Lee Strickland, 36, were jailed for a minimum of 84 years last week for the brutal robbery and killing.
Judge Daniel Williams said the attack was motivated by "sheer homophobia".
Former neighbours of Timms-Williams have expressed their shock that such a "quiet girl" could commit such a heinous attack.
One neighbour told The Sun : "Everyone around here is absolutely stunned by this awful murder.
"Dionne comes from two lovely parents, yet she's gone out and done this."
Timms-Williams is said to have been "distraught" when her parents split up, although this does not explain the callous killing.
Another neighbour added: "Believe it or not, Dionne was a lovely girl. She was very quiet but she was always friendly and polite."
Other neighbours described Timms-Williams as a "daddy's girl" before she started to "hang around kids that were up to no good".
They claimed it had become obvious she had "gone off the rails".
Timms-Williams had lived in a presentable cul-de-sac, they said.
Another added: "She was sweet and pretty growing up and never any trouble - it's hard to believe what's happened.
"She was like Jekyll and Hyde, there was a huge change in her. I think most people in the village knew she was messing about with drugs. She could look very vacant at times."
Edwards, Strickland and Timms-Williams pleaded not guilty to manslaughter, robbery and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
But they were found guilty of murder after a trial at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court.
The trial previously heard bisexual Dr Jenkins had gone to the park looking to meet "like-minded men" on July 20 last year.
He was rushed to the University Hospital of Wales but he died of an "unsurvivable brain injury" 16 days later.
In a victim impact statement, his wife said the family's "world fell apart" when they found out about the attack.
Cardiff Crown Court heard witness Louis Williams desperately tried to shield Dr Jenkins from the fatal blows near the Summerhouse Cafe.
He told police that Timms-Williams was: "F***ing evil. Sadistic", following the attack.
In a victim impact statement, Mr Williams said: "I still feel this is not about me. I did not get killed. I feel guilty still.
"I'm shocked that a juvenile can do such things and it has made me question our society."
The court heard Mr Williams was left wondering: "Should I have been a better fighter" after Dr Jenkins' horrific death.
Prosecutor Dafydd Enoch QC previously said the attackers had positioned themselves in the park "to target somebody for robbery and violence".
Strickland was spotted on CCTV just eight minutes after the attack when he attempted to buy whisky with Dr Jenkins' stolen bank card.
The court heard Edwards and Timms-Williams were also seen on security footage after they left the park and shared a hug.
Edwards and Strickland were bother sentenced to life with a minimum of 33 years.
Timms-Williams was handed a life sentence with a minimum of 18 years.
