Amazon Prime Video has ordered filming on Anansi Boys, a book by best-selling author Neil Gaiman of the same name.
The streaming service is known for producing lots of successful TV shows and films , and we are in no doubt that this latest offering will follow that pattern.
Hoping to make the series a huge hit, production executives have signed up Sir Lenny Henry, who is starring in Amazon Prime Video series Lord of the Rings, as one of the show’s executive producers and writers.
The idea for the book was originally drawn out during conversations between Henry and Gaiman, with the upcoming series bringing the pair together once more.

What is Anansi Boys about?
The story follows a boy named Charlie Nancy who is frequently embarrassed by his estranged father.
He learns something important about his father when he dies, however, with that being that his dad was Anansi, who is known as a god of stories.
Charlie thought of his father as a lazy man but admired his charm. However, he didn’t realise that his dad had this Anansi side to him.
Charlie also learns that he has a brother, named Spider. Charlie’s life becomes a lot more interesting with a sibling around but it also invites more danger and peril into his world.
Who is in the Anansi Boys cast?
So far, Amazon Studios has confirmed just one name in the casting line-up for Anansi Boys.
Delroy Lindo, known for his role in TV series The Good Fight, has been confirmed to play Anansi, Charlie’s dad.
Speaking of his casting, Gaiman said: “Delroy Lindo is a giant of the stage and the screen, and we are so lucky to have him.
“I cannot wait to see his gravitas and charm being deployed for the benefit of Anansi Boys, as he plays an unreliable father with hidden depths.”
Where is Anansi Boys being filmed?
The six-part series is due to begin filming in Scotland later in 2021.
Speaking about the TV series, Gaiman said: “ Anansi Boys as a TV series has been a long time coming -- I first started working with Endor and Red on making it over a decade ago.
“We needed Amazon Prime to come on board and embrace our vision, we needed a lead director with the craft and vision of Hanelle Culpepper, we needed the creative and technical wizardry of Douglas Mackinnon (who worked out how we could push the bounds of the possible to shoot a story set all over the world in a huge studio outside Edinburgh), and we needed the rest of the amazing talents that nobody knows about yet.”
