'Everything is perfect': Luka Vuskovic reflects on Tottenham debut under Thomas Frank

Dream debut: Luka Vuskovic - (John Walton/PA Wire)

Tottenham centre-back Luka Vuskovic hailed his “perfect” start to life under Thomas Frank as Spurs saw off Reading 2-0 to begin their pre-season.

The 18-year-old Croatian signed for Spurs from Hajduk Split back in 2023 but has since spent loan spells in Poland and Belgium before making his first appearance for the north Londoners on Saturday.

Introduced as a half-time substitute at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, he made a near-instant impact - setting up his side’s opener by fellow teenager Will Lankshear before doubling Spurs’ lead minutes later from a Mohammed Kudus assist.

Reacting to his long-awaited debut, the central defender said: “Everything is perfect. The club is behind me. The players, the staff, the coach, everyone is helping me a lot and I’m really happy.”

New Tottenham boss Frank was quick to praise the starring performance of his new charge, who also impressed on the defensive side of the ball after linking up with Spurs earlier this month.

“Luka deserves the praise as well,” the former Brentford manager said. “A great header. Showed his physicality and his composure on the ball. He’s not getting stressed when opponents get close. And what a strike.”

Vuskovic’s attacking prowess against Reading would appear to be no fluke, either.

A regular feature for Belgian side KVC Westerlo, he scored seven goals and registered two assists in 28 league matches last season. That followed a combined goals tally of 12 across his previous two campaigns in Croatia and Poland.
