Everybody needs to apologize to Tua Tagovailoa

This is the online version of our daily newsletter, The Morning WinSubscribe to get irreverent and incisive sports stories, delivered to your mailbox every morning.

There were so many jokes.

People joked about his arm strength. Everyone laughed about bad passes in practice. Fans thought the team would be doomed with him at QB.

And you know what? Everyone was wrong. Dead freaking wrong.

I’m talking, of course, about Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. The former Alabama star is coming off four straight wins in which he’s thrown a combined 10 TDs and 0 INTs.

He has the Dolphins sitting at 7-3 and atop the AFC East, which is the best division in football this year with all four teams currently having winning records.

Miami is 7-0 in games that he’s started this year, which is pretty good.

And he’s right in the middle of the MVP talk.

So yeah, now would be a pretty good time for everyone to apologize to the third-year QB because just about everyone was wrong about him. Oh so wrong.

The Dolphins are now one of the best teams in football and there’s no reason to believe that they can’t make a long run in the postseason and a lot of that is because of the Tua.

A lot of that also has to do with the addition of Tyreek Hill, who has been everything the Dolphins hoped he would be when they made the trade with the Chiefs in the offseason.

A lot of that also has to do with Jaylen Waddle. who has teamed up with Hill to form one of the best WR duos in the league

And a lot of that has to do with first-year coach Mike McDaniel, who has made this offense click and has put all of his star players in the best positions to be successful.

But none of this is possible if Tua doesn’t play well. Bad QBs are easy to spot in the NFL and they don’t last long on the field if they can’t get it done.

Tua is not a bad QB. He’s a very good one. And the Dolphins are lucky to have him.

Now everyone just say you’re sorry.
