Every Celtic player rated after Europa League loss to Braga

Celtic lost 2-0 at home to Braga in the Europa League this evening.

Here is how every one of their players rated.

Kasper Schmeichel - 4/10

Wasn't threatened in the opening stages until Ricardo Horta unleashed a strike from range on 20 minutes. Schmeichel arguably should've done better as the ball looped over his head and into the back of the Celtic net. He had a few shaky moments with the ball at his feet before the opener, too.

Colby Donovan - 5/10

A first home start for the teenage full-back, who was caught out a few times defensively. As ever, though, Donovan wasn't afraid to make use of his physical frame to impose himself on the opposition. May not have got forward as much as he would've liked, but couldn't resist the temptation of going for glory from way out towards the end of the first half with an effort that flew way over the bar. Brought off at the break in place of Marcelo Saracchi as Brendan Rodgers switched his formation to match that of the opposition.

Cameron Carter-Vickers - 6/10

Usually sturdy American centre-half was predominantly that once more against Braga. Carter-Vickers was one of Celtic's better defenders, and at the halfway mark, he had completed the most passes of any player in the match, despite the visitors edging the opening 45 on possession.

Liam Scales - 6/10

Scales' performances have gone slightly under the radar this term. He has been one of his side's most consistent performers and was once again adept in this fixture. Played as the most central of Celtic's three centre-backs in the second half and didn't put a foot wrong.

Kieran Tierney - 6/10

Came back into start ahead of Saracchi at left full-back. Tierney didn't get forward as much as he would've wanted to in the first half before moving to play as a left-sided central defender, a role he is familiar with from international duty. He made some crucial defensive interventions in the second 45 and was unfortunate not to net with a back-post header that Lukas Hornicek saved well.

Callum McGregor - 5/10

Celtic's skipper had the license to push further forward after the tactical switch, and he made a number of characteristic drives with the ball from deep that got the crowd going.

Paulo Bernardo - 5/10

In for just his second start of the season and first in over a month, Bernardo could've done better to shut down Horta before he unleashed a thing of beauty above and beyond Schmeichel in the early stages. Brendan Rodgers outlined the opportunity the Portuguese had in getting the nod - it wouldn't be harsh to state that he failed to grasp it in a disjointed-looking Celtic midfield.

Benjamin Nygren - 5/10

Elusive Swedish midfielder failed to capture the imagination. Nygren regularly chips in with goals and assists, but it is difficult to see what he brings to this Celtic side. Didn't create much of note from midfield and was replaced by Arne Engels with 25 minutes to go.

Daizen Maeda - 5/10

Maeda didn't do much of note in terms of a goalscoring threat, but he sure gave his all in this one. He was used as a right-wing back in the second half before coming off for James Forrest.

Sebastian Tounekti - 7/10

Got a rather muted crowd going 13 minutes in after some electric wing play on the left-hand side helped Celtic win a free-kick. Tunisian has settled into life in Glasgow well, and he was one of their more impressive attacking performers in this one. Forced a fine save out of Hornicek with just under 20 to go after dancing past several opponents.

Kelechi Iheanacho - 5/10

Nigerian striker failed to make the ball stick in the first half. Even on one of the few occasions he did, his pass to an onrushing Nygren was overhit by some margin. Iheanacho thought he had dragged Celtic level early into the second half with a smart finish into the bottom corner, although he was adjudged to have handled the ball when winning it back from the Braga defence, even though it appeared to hit off his head.

Subs

Marcelo Saracchi (Donovan 45) - Introduced at halftime to play as a left-wing back in a five, the Uruguay international made a positive impact. You can see Saracchi possesses a certain level of quality just by the way he plays.

Arne Engels (Nygren 65) - Club record signing came on for the final 25.

Reo Hatate (Bernardo 65) - Was involved to a great extent after being introduced, but failed to do much of note.

James Forrest (Maeda 76) - Veteran was thrown on for the last quarter of an hour.

Dane Murray (Tierney 80) - Took the place of a struggling Tierney late on.
