Everton Women closing in on major international double transfer swoop

Everton Women are closing in on the signing of French international star Valerie Gauvin from Montpellier.

The ECHO also understands Orlando Pride and Scotland forward Claire Emslie is set to arrive on a six-month loan deal after her two-year spell with Manchester City ended in 2019.

Gauvin scored twice for France at the 2019 World Cup and has bagged an eye-catching 50 goals in 90 appearances for Montpellier since joining from Toulouse in 2014.

Reports in France last week claimed Everton could pay up to €100,000 to secure her services but the financial aspects of the transfer are currently unclear for a 24-year-old who has been capped 30 times for her country.

Emslie, 26, became the first Scottish woman to score at the World Cup when she netted against England in 2019 and enjoyed a loan move to Melbourne City in Australia before heading to the United States to join Orlando.
