Former Leeds United goalkeeper Paul Robinson says he would not be surprised if his old side reignite their interest in Manchester United's Daniel James.
The Whites were interested in the Welsh winger in the summer but he ultimately stayed at Old Trafford, with Raphinha instead moving to Elland Road from Rennes.
It was the second time Leeds had tried to land James after previously seeing a January 2019 deadline-day move from Swansea City fall through.
Yet James continues to struggle for football under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, featuring more for Wales this season than he has for Manchester United.
The 23-year-old scored his first club goal of the season on Tuesday as he came off the bench to net late on against Istanbul Basaksehir and now Everton have become linked with his services.
Everton's bright start to the season has faded slightly with Carlo Ancelotti's lack of squad depth emphasised in recent weeks, leading to speculation the Toffees may bolster their ranks with a move for James.
Speaking to Football Insider, Robinson believes James would fit in well at Everton but did not rule out Leeds reigniting their interest.
"Dan James would force his way into that team.," the former Whites goalkeeper said.
"He is really struggling to get game time at Manchester United which I am surprised by because he hit the ground running when he came in.
"He is a young player that needs to be playing. You cannot just sit and train at Manchester United and think you will get your chance soon.
"It would be a surprise but there could potentially be an opportunity to buy Dan James in January or the summer.
"We have seen what he can do. Everton will be looking at him and I would not be surprised if Bielsa went back after him. We know that he almost signed for Leeds before United.
"There will be a lot of clubs after Dan James should he become available."
