Everton player ratings as Salomon Rondon shocking and six more poor against Brentford

Jordan Pickford - 6

Made a couple of strong saves but unfortunately there was eventually nothing he could do about the three goals he conceded. The England international will again be lamenting a number of mistakes in front of him in that sense.

Alex Iwobi - 7

He was asked to increase his work rate and defensive qualities after Everton were reduced to ten men and he stood up to his task admirably. Again he was solid when moved into central midfield even later in the match.

Seamus Coleman - 6

He's had a defensively strong first 45 minutes, and he was unfortunate that a cross has bounced off his head and wrong-footed his goalkeeper. In the second period he kept up his personal level, but was taken off for Salomon Rondon late on.

Jarrad Branthwaite - 5

Can count himself very unlucky to have been sent off. A little error, but he should never have been in the position in the first place if the referee had spotted a foul on Richarlison in the opposite penalty area.

Mason Holgate - 7

He had some real work to do as the only out-and-out centre back for Everton in the majority of the match after the first red card. He did well personally in that sense including a great block on the line with his head late on.

Vitalii Mykolenko - 7

It wasn't easy for him defensively down that flank but he stood up to the task well. He made a number of important tackles to try and set Everton on the front foot again but unfortunately it was to no avail.

Abdoulaye Doucoure - 4

He didn't keep hold of the ball well enough in midfield, his passing was often wayward and he wasn't committed enough in a number of tackles to allow Brentford almost a free run of things for large periods.

Andre Gomes - 4

It was a big ask for him to come straight back into the midfield having had a time on the sidelines. He looked to be run a little ragged by Brentford's midfield even at the start of the match and that continued when the Blues were reduced to ten men.

Anthony Gordon - 5

He put in copious amounts of effort once more, but he didn't provide the quality in the final third when it mattered. He switched off for Brentford to score their winning goal which proved very costly.

Richarlison - 7

Missed a couple of early chances, but played a crucial role in the first goal and had a cool head to both win and bag a later penalty. His influence was hugely reduced in the second half but he was up there with Everton's best.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin - 6

In the right place at the right time to get a touch on the first goal, his first since the end of August. After that point it was all about being a target man for the striker which he did fairly well, but it wasn't enough.

SUBS

Demarai Gray - 5

Couldn't bring the required quality in the final third.

Jonjoe Kenny - 5

Slotted into the right side of defence and wasn't tested all too much.

Salomon Rondon - 1

Came on the pitch, got sent off. Perhaps he slipped, but it's still reckless.
