Everton offer 'really important' Leighton Baines new contract

Everton have offered Leighton Baines a new contract.

And the Blues are understood to have put a 12 month deal on the table for the 35-year-old.

Baines signed a new one-year deal last summer and comes to the end of that contract on June 30.

And with Carlo Ancelotti describing Baines as "really important for us" Everton have now formally made the offer of a new deal.

Baines is, at this stage, expected to sign the deal and stay with the club until the summer of 2021.

The veteran left-back is one of four senior players at Everton whose contracts run out on June 30.

Maarten Stekelenburg, Oumar Niasse and Cuco Martina are the other three but the the Blues have yet to formally make a decision over whether to hand the trio extensions to cover the remainder of the season.
