Beni Baningime is the subject of an offer from Hearts.
The 22-year-old Everton midfielder is not part of the club's trip to Florida and potentially could now be heading to Tynecastle.
Baningime has entered the final year of his Blues' contract and Hearts' offer is for a permanent move.
The Academy graduate made his first-team debut in October 2017 under caretaker boss David Unsworth and played 12 times that season.
But Baningime has been unable to build on his breakthrough and has since spent time out on loan with Wigan Athletic and Derby County.
And now the Premier League 2 title winner, who has endured a frustrating time with injuries, could be on his way out of the club following an offer from Scottish Premier League side Hearts.
Former Everton favourite Steven Naismith recently called time on his playing career to take up the position of Hearts' Football Development Manager.
