Everton line up confirmed as Anthony Gordon handed start against Liverpool

Anthony Gordon will start the 236th Merseyside derby as Carlo Ancelotti marks Everton’s return to action by handing the youngster his full Premier League debut.

And 17-year-old Jarrad Branthwaite is named on the bench with the Blues allowed to include nine substitutes as part of an expanded matchday squad.

Jordan Pickford remains in goal with Seamus Coleman starting at right-back and captaining the side.

Djibril Sidibe is not named in the squad.

Mason Holgate, Michael Keane and Lucas Digne make up the rest of the defence with Tom Davies partnering the fit-again Andre Gomes in central midfield.

Gordon starts on the right of a 4-4-2 with Alex Iwobi on the other side.

Everton team: Pickford. Coleman, Holgate, Keane, Digne. Gordon, Gomes, Davies; Iwobi. Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison

Substitutes: Virginia, Stekelenburg, Baines, Sigurdsson, Bernard, Kean, Martina, Branthwaite, Beningame
