Kevin Thelwell appointment announces Everton departure after just five months

Kevin Nicholson has announced that he has left Everton to join an "international organisation".

The Blues confirmed the appointment of the Coach Educator in April which was seen as an integral part of the club's strategic review following the departure of Marcel Brands the previous December. The boyhood Evertonian was a junior player at Derby County and was the youngster ever Englishman to hold the UEFA Pro Licence after qualifying aged 29.

Having worked with Bangor City, Cardiff City, Derby County and Exeter City his move to Finch Farm was confirmed. However on Friday, after just a few months with the club, he revealed that he couldn't turn down a new offer that had been placed in front of him.

In a statement released to social media, Nicholson wrote: "Great to have had the opportunity to contribute to the Coach Education at Everton Football Club. Have learned so much working with people at Finch Farm, across the club and academy.

Everton hit by huge fine from FA for pitch invasions against Crystal Palace

Everton have been fined £300,000 by the FA after pitch encroachments during and following their crucial clash with Crystal Palace at the end of last season.

The Blues dramatically secured their Premier League survival against the Eagles by coming from 2-0 down at half-time to win 3-2 at Goodison Park. Goals in the second half from Michael Keane, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin earned Frank Lampard's side the three points that they needed in the campaign's penultimate match.

The win sparked huge scenes of jubilation, which included two separate occasions of fans encroaching on to the pitch. A small number entered the field of play in the immediate aftermath of the winning goal, scored by Calvert-Lewin, while thousands also ran on when the full-time whistle had sounded.

Now the FA have confirmed the punishment for Everton, which they still have the opportunity to appeal against, although they have admitted to failing to control their crowd.
