Everton confirm coaching reshuffle as position set to be reviewed in summer

Kevin O'Brien has replaced Alan Kelly as Everton under-23 goalkeeping coach until the end of the season.

Lead academy goalkeeping coach O'Brien has been at the Blues since 1998 after a playing career that included a 13-year spell with Marine.

Kelly was promoted to the first-team by Carlo Ancelotti after his appointment in December and u-23 manager David Unsworth believes he is a 'top class' choice after previously coaching Jordan Pickford at Preston North End.

Unsworth, who initially brought Kelly to Everton during his spell as interim boss in 2017, confirmed O'Brien's position will be reviewed at the end of the current campaign.

"We're going to assess it in the summer," he told the ECHO.

"Obviously Alan has stepped up to the first-team working with Jordan, he's worked with him before at Preston, and in my opinion he's the best goalkeeping coach I've worked with. He's top class.

"I'm delighted for him to get the opportunity to work and he's certainly improved Jordan there's no doubt about that.

"Kev's covering at the moment and it's a position we'll look at in the summer."
