(Picture: PA Wire)The connection between running across the M25 and the important task of improving the energy efficiency of Britain’s homes is not immediately obvious.
Raising awareness of one’s cause is understandable, but the public are already broadly supportive of schemes that help them reduce their energy bills through draught-proofing windows or insulating roofs. This newspaper also supports energy-efficiency programmes to reduce our carbon emissions.
But the police were right to seek an injunction and to prevent further life-threatening disruption. Putting lives at risk does not advance the cause of combating climate change.
Eye-catching protests may capture attention, but lasting change requires bringing people with you.
