Evatt explains Bolton Wanderers transfer approach & hails influence of key man behind the scenes

Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt has hailed the influence of technical performance director Chris Markham when it comes to the club's summer transfer plans.

The Trotters are preparing for life back in League One following promotion in May and have already made moves in the market, the most recent being the permanent capture of Declan John from Swansea City.

And Evatt said Markham's role in helping sell the club to prospective new players was a huge asset.

Explaining his transfer policy, the boss said: “I think it’s just first and foremost making them feel wanted, putting due diligence in, speaking to them on the phone, introducing them to our style of play, showing them video clips and that’s where Chris Markham’s been a huge help to me.

"Building our presentation so to speak of this is how we want to play, these are the live clips in games which back up what we’re saying.

"It’s easy for me to come out and say ‘we want to play this way and that way’ but until they can see it true to life and in games, players don’t necessarily believe it so that’s what we’ve been doing and hence why we’re having success and getting our primary targets over the line."
