Evangelos Marinakis and Nottingham Forest transfer plans backed before January window

Nottingham Forest supporters are loving the latest statement of intent from the club's owner Evangelos Marinakis ahead of the January transfer window.

After signing 23 players during the summer transfer window, the Reds are again going to be active in the new year. Marinakis has claimed in an interview that the club "will try to get at least an additional two players" next month on top of the free agent arrival of attacking midfielder Gustavo Scarpa, who officially becomes a Forest player on New Year's Day.

Reds fans are pleased to hear that the owner is again backing the club financially as they look to avoid relegation from the Premier League back to the Championship. Here is a selection of the reaction from our Nottingham Forest News page on Facebook to Marinakis' interview.

John Shipley: Yes, but can you make sure they are capable of competing in the Premier League?

Sean Patrick: Other clubs would be planning on selling in January to get their finances in check for the Championship, not our man; he says, 'sod this, we are staying up!' Love this club!

Darren Lycett: Refreshing to hear that he recognises that the expectation is now survival, and, hopefully, two or three upgrades would make us much stronger. A number nine, a top midfielder and a centre-back, depending on whether Moussa Niakhaté's is close to returning or not. We have a good chance, but let’s hope losing at home to two promoted teams doesn’t come back to haunt us!

Tom Kirkpatrick: Starting to look like a proper team. Two or three quality players in January, and we're golden.
