Eva Speakman breaks down in tears after speaking to abuse survivor on This Morning

Eva Speakman broke down in tears after speaking to an abuse survivor on This Morning today.

Last week, the therapist opened up about a past abusive relationship on the ITV daytime show.

And today, she revealed that she was prompted to speak out after talking to fellow survivor Lynn Hart for her new series, Dangerous Love, with Nik Speakman.

Lynn was almost beaten to death by her partner at the time, David Harrison, who was sentenced to seven years in prison for the crime.

After seeing Lynn's bruises, Eva decided to speak about her own experience with domestic violence.

"No one's immune to domestic violence," she told Lynn and began to cry. "It makes me really sad because I know how you feel because I ended up in hospital."

She added: "I admire you because she survived your darkest day... I can tell you from experience that you can get through it."

Later, Eva appeared in the studio and said that Lynn's story had prompted her to speak out.

"Lynn [was] a woman I could see had taken complete responsibility," she said. "I owed it to her to let her know that she wasn't alone."

Asked how she felt after speaking about her own story, Eva said: "Amazing, I do genuinely feel as though a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.... to know that something that was so horrendous in my life has turned into something positive and made a difference."

She added: "When you're in that situation is that the biggest thing is that your voice is taken away from you, your opinion is taken away from them."

*This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV
