Eurovision in jeopardy over Coronavirus as show bosses begin crisis talks

Eurovision could be axed as TV bosses have been in crisis talks about coronavirus.

European Broadcasting Union - who host the singing competition - divulged they have been "looking at various scenarios" as the killer virus continued to sweep the world.

It had set to draw in a gigantic live audience at Rotterdam, Holland.

But now bosses may have a solution to prevent the contestants from overseas travel and the need for a large crowd.

Among the proposed plans, it has been put forward the acts could perform on a video link.

"The EBU is, of course, closely monitoring the situation concerning the spread of coronavirus and taking all necessary health and safety precautions in line with WHO and national authority guidelines," a rep for the EBU said.

"We will continue to follow developments across Europe; and are looking at various possible scenarios together with the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 host broadcasters NPO, NOS and AVROTROS."

The bosses refused to comment on any particulars being drawn up in the plans for Eurovision's future.

They added to The Daily Star: "However, it is currently too early to comment on these scenarios as they depend on developments in the coming months.

Graham Norton broke the announcement the UK confirmed their entry for the 2020 Eurovision show.

The UK has only won the singing talent contest five times since it's been running.

UK hasn't brought home a victory in more than 20 years on the show.
