Eurovision host Alesha Dixon accused of dropping 'clue' on who is UK act with BBC outfit choice

Alesha Dixon attracted the attention of Eurovision fans who tuned into this weekend's Saturday Kitchen and accused her of dropping a 'clue' on who is representing the United Kingdom this year, due to the top she was wearing.

Last month, former Mis-Teeq star turned Strictly winner Alesha was named as one of the presenters for Eurovision in Liverpool in May, along with the likes of Hannah Waddingham and Graham Norton. Other well known faces on the BBC team for Eurovision 2023 include Rylan Clark and Mel Giedroyc but, while the hosting line-up has been confirmed in full, there is still no news on who will fly the flag for the UK in a few months time.

The UK and Liverpool taking on hosting duties arose from the fact that Sam Ryder finished second last year and the European Broadcasting Union then decided winning nation Ukraine couldn't host due to the conflict in the war torn country. Space Man singer Sam gave the UK its best Eurovision finish since Katrina and the Waves won back in 1997, so whoever is chosen to represent this year has substantial pressure on them to do well.

Bookies are tipping Skinny Love and Wild Horses singer Birdy to compete for the UK, ahead of This Hell star Rina Sawayama. Rina, whose other hits include Catch Me in The Air and Frankenstein, was recently a guest on The Graham Norton Show, fuelling speculation that she could be the chosen one.

And now fans have become more convinced Rina has been given the nod after Alesha wore the same top as Rina's dancers wore for their performance on Graham Norton, when she appeared as a guest on BBC show Saturday Kitchen.

Once one viewer had clocked her wearing the attention grabbing blouse and tweeted about it, the post quickly spread like wildfire on social media, as others also noticed it too.

Taking to Twitter, one Eurovision devotee wrote: "Alesha Dixon wearing the exact same outfit as Rina Sawayamas dancers. Is it really Rina? I HOPE SO," with a second reacting: "OK well if it isn't Rina, the level of trolling and collusion between Alesha + Rina is top tier"

Others suggested Alesha wearing the same top as Rina's dancers as just a coincidence. Sharing that same of thought, one viewer tweeted: "But maybe, just maybe, Alesha saw that outfit on Rina’s dancers and thought “I like that, I think I’ll wear it on Saturday Kitchen.” And that’s all there is to it. No BBC hint, no hidden message for fans....She saw the outfit and she liked it. As simple as that."
