European sporting director 'can't promise' star's stay amid Old Firm interest

Rangers target Silas Andersen could be on the move this summer, after Hacken sporting director Erik Friberg admitted the midfielder’s future is far from certain.

The Ibrox side have tracked the young Dane since the winter window and made enquiries earlier this year, but they now face growing competition for his signature, with Celtic also linked alongside Trabzonspor and FC Koln.

The Turkish side are understood to have received encouraging scouting reports, while the Bundesliga outfit view him as a potential successor to Eric Martel.

Andersen has made a strong start to the season in Sweden, scoring three goals in nine appearances, already bettering last year’s return.

Hacken are expected to sell at least one player during the current window, and Friberg has refused to rule out Andersen being that departure. “We’re going to sell someone. This we will do,” Friberg said. [Fotballskanalen]

“I can’t promise that Silas will stay. Nothing is clear yet; we’ll see where it goes.”

The 21-year-old only joined Hacken in 2025 from FC Utrecht, but his rapid development has quickly attracted interest across Europe, leaving his situation one to watch as the window unfolds.
