Hannover are trying to persuade Celtic to loan them defender Maik Nawrocki again next season after being scared off by their £3.5 million price tag.
The Polish defender was a key man for the German club as they narrowly failed to win promotion back to the Bundesliga.
They made an enquiry to sign the 25-year-old from the Hoops on a permanent basis, but cannot afford the fee Celtic have fixed.
Nawrocki has also attracted interest from other clubs in Germany and Hannover have a battle on their hands to secure the stopper.

He admitted last week after they missed out on promotion, he doesn't know where his future lies, but would be open to a return to Hannover.
He said: "Of course I would love to return, but it's not up to me now.
"I could come back here, stay at Celtic or go somewhere else entirely.
"Right now I am just so disappointed we didn't manage to win promotion for the fans because we were all convinced we would do it."
