EuroMillions £111m jackpot scooped as UK winner comes forward to claim prize

A lucky UK ticket-holder has come forward to claim the £111 million EuroMillions jackpot.

Players were urged to check their tickets after a winner matched all five numbers as well as the two Lucky Stars in Friday's draw.

The National Lottery has now confirmed a claim has been received - making the ticket-holder a millionaire overnight and scooping the nation's ninth biggest ever lottery win.

The verification process will now begin and there will be no information on where the UK winner is from or where they bought the ticket.

It is also not known if it is an individual or a syndicate winner, unless the ticket-holder decides to go public.

Lottery winners can sign an agreement for full publicity or can choose to stay anonymous to hide the win.

It is the fourth UK EuroMillions jackpot winner this year - two were won in April and another was won on New Year's Day.

Camelot's Andy Carter, senior winners' adviser at the National Lottery, said: "What sensational news on a sunny summer weekend for one lucky EuroMillions player.

"They have instantly become the ninth biggest winner in UK National Lottery history and have a fortune which can make their dreams come true.

"We will now look to support the ticket-holder through the process and help them to start to enjoy their life-changing win."

The full prize is £111,540,000.00.

The highest UK winner claimed a jackpot of £170million in October 2019, but they chose to stay anonymous.

Scots couple Colin and Chris Weir, from Largs, became Europe's second biggest lottery winners in 2011 winning £160million and putting them into the Sunday Time's rich list.

Last month, a mystery Scots EuroMillions player - known only as Mr. B - became a millionaire overnight after scooping a UK Millionaire Maker prize.

The Lanarkshire local played a Lucky Dip via the National Lottery app on May 7 and came up trumps.

Camelot’s Andy Carter said: "Huge congratulations to Mr. B for winning this fantastic prize.

"After a few simple taps, he has become a millionaire overnight."
