ESPN moves Ohio State basketball up No. 7 in Way-Too-Early Rankings for 2019-2020

ESPN has updated its way-too-early college basketball rankings for the 2019-20 season and YOUR Ohio State Buckeyes are movin’ on up, and now firmly in the projected top ten. Chris Holtmann’s third team was originally listed as No. 10 in the same piece just after all the smoke cleared from Virginia winning it all, but now things have been re-adjusted with Ohio State now appearing at No. 7. And the scarlet and gray have plenty of company at the top from fellow Big Ten colleagues.

Included up on the top ten of the Way Too Early Top 25 updated rankings are Michigan State at No. 1, Michigan at No. 5, and Maryland at No. 9. That’s four Big Ten teams with high expectations for next year folks. So if you thought the league was deep this past season, just wait.

This is the year that many have pointed to for Holtmann to really put his stamp on the program, and with a top ten type recruiting class to go along with returning depth and skill, those overachieving first couple of years are now behind him. This and other projections for next year have clearly set a new bar in Columbus.

Now, we’ll have to see if that all pans out and everyone can gel together.
