ESPN host perfectly sums up absurdity of Ryan Tannehill disrespect

There is no player in the NFL more disrespected nationally than Tennessee Titans quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, and ESPN’s Mike Greenberg perfectly summed up the absurdity of it all.

After two great seasons with the Titans, Tannehill still isn’t getting the credit he deserves, and that was never more clear than after the team traded for wide receiver Julio Jones.

In the eyes of Tannehill’s detractors, the veteran’s success is a direct result of having running back Derrick Henry and former offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, even though the numbers show Tannehill helped elevate them as much as, if not more than, they helped him.

Greenberg, the host of ESPN’s “Get Up”, not only has the numbers to back that up, but states Tannehill is “the most disrespected player in American sports today.”

Greeny also completely destroys the notion that Tannehill is the same guy he was with the Miami Dolphins and isn’t deserving of more respect (H/T @TitansDraftTape for the video, which can be viewed in full right here).

Mic drop…

The latest example of disrespect of Tannehill didn’t come from some talking head or Twitter superhero looking for attention, but from those currently in the NFL.

ESPN did a survey ranking the top 10 quarterbacks based on the opinions of 50 scouts, players, coaches and executives, and Tannehill didn’t even make the top 10 of that list, instead landing in the “others receiving votes” section.

We do want to give a shoutout to a few out there in the national media who do get it like Greenberg.

Touchdown Wire’s Mark Schofield has Tannehill at No. 10 on his list of the top 15 quarterbacks in the NFL, and while you can argue that he should be higher, at least he’s actually in the top 10.

Greenberg’s ESPN colleague and former NFL general manager, Mike Tannenbaum, had Tannehill at No. 3 on his list of the top 10 AFC quarterbacks.

Tannehill is nowhere close to getting his rightful due from those outside of Nashville for the success he’s had the past few seasons, but it’s nice to see at least a few in the national media giving him the credit he deserves.
