ESPN continues to load its NFL announcer roster with quarterbacks.
The WorldWide Leader recently signed former Washington Football Team quarterback Robert Griffin III to its team.
And Wednesday, there was news it has added another former WFT QB in Alex Smith.

Oh, and don’t forget ESPN will also have Peyton and Eli Manning doing their own show during 10 Monday Night Football games this season.
He will appear on shows like “Monday Night NFL Countdown”, among others. However, if both sides like how it goes, it could lead to a larger commitment.
Smith had tryouts to become a Sunday game analyst for both Fox and CBS. Fox decided to sign Mark Sanchez, while CBS will not replace Rich Gannon.
Smith completed a miraculous comeback in 2020 and returned to the field for the WFT after suffering a gruesome leg injury in the 2018 season.
He had numerous surgeries and rehabbed his way back to play once again.
Smith retired following last season. He has had a lot of contact with ESPN, which did a marvelous documentary-style piece on his courageous comeback.
Smith was a No. 1 overall pick out of Utah by the San Francisco 49ers. He also played for the Kansas City Chiefs. In Kansas City, Smith started ahead of Patrick Mahomes in that No. 1 draft pick’s rookie season.
He was traded to Washington as Kansas City decided to go with Mahomes as its starting quarterback.
