ESIC issues lifetime ban to MAUschine after on-stage physical assault at CS2 event

Maurizio “MAUschine” Weber has been handed a lifetime ban by the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) for his physical attack against Spidergum on stage at the CAGGTUS Leipzig CS2 tournament on April 20.

The ruling permanently bars MAUschine from participating in any event organized by ESIC members in any capacity, making it one of the strongest disciplinary actions issued in professional Counter-Strike.

In its statement, ESIC said its investigation found MAUschine physically assaulted an opposing player (Spidergum) on stage after their match and described the incident as a serious breach of its Code of Conduct.

“This conduct represents a flagrant and unacceptable breach of the ESIC Code of Conduct, including violations relating to violence, participant safety, and the fundamental obligation to act with integrity and respect at all times,” ESIC emphasized.

The esports watchdog stressed that physical aggression, especially in a public setting, is not simply a lapse in judgment but a huge integrity violation that threatens player safety and the credibility of competition.

“Physical violence in any form will result in the strongest possible sanctions,” ESIC added.

The ban stems from MAUschine’s violent action at the CAGGTUS Leipzig awards ceremony after his team lost to Spidergum’s Legends Lobby. According to a statement from regnum4games, Spidergum’s main organization, tensions started during the first map of the final when Spidergum reportedly quoted MAUschine on stream after a clutch play.

The remark was supposed to be a light banter, but regnum4games claimed MAUschine reacted strongly, even threatening physical violence toward Spidergum. Tensions spilled over at the post-match awards ceremony, where MAUschine struck Spidergum in the face in what the organization called “a clear punch” that crossed the line of sportsmanship.

CS2 tournament organizers DACH CS and Fragster extend bans

With ESIC’s ruling, tournament organizer DACH CS updated its initial 10-year suspension and permanently banned MAUschine from all events it organizes.

“Following ESIC’s issuance of a permanent ban against MAUschine, we have adjusted our ban accordingly,” DACH CS said in statement, as translated from German.

Fragster also announced it was extending its previously issued 10-year ban into a lifetime exclusion, covering all events, tournaments, and platforms operated by Fragster AG and Fragster Challenger.

“In accordance with the decision by ESIC, we are extending the previously imposed 10-year ban on Maurizio ‘MAUSchin’ Weber to a permanent exclusion,” Fragster stated.

As both organizers backed the ESIC ruling and more TOs expected to do the same, MAUschine has found himself further isolated from the competitive CS2 scene.
