Escape to the Chateau's Dick Strawbridge tells wife Angel 'to go' as he starts project

Escape to the Chateau's Dick Strawbridge told his wife Angel 'to go' as he worked on a major project in their stately home.

The father-of-four, 63, was beavering away in a winter garden room when the interior designer, 44, joked the space didn't need decorating.

Showing off his progress in the chateau in northern France, Dick pointed to some metal frames and said: "Look here, the sheets of glass go in here. There's a sheet of glass which goes inside each one.

"There's nothing fixed on three of the walls. There's nothing to hide wires and things and stuff."

Angel, known for her love of exquisite decoration, teased: "This place doesn't need a lot of decorating. It's not going to need twinkly lights and stuff."

In shock, Dick said: "Sorry, stop, stop," before turning to the workmen, asking: "Did you hear that?

"Rob did you hear that? Can we please write that down somewhere," he repeated.

Dick then told his wife "to go" to think about decoration for the room as he continued with the construction.

Of course Angel was more than happy to oblige as she joked her hubby was simply building a "flat pack" room.

Escape To The Chateau fans were left in tears when the popular Channel 4 programme aired its final ever episode on December 18.

Dick and Angel announced in September the ninth series would be their last and went out with a bang with their Christmas finale.

The final episode saw the family prepare for the festive season as they thanked everyone who had helped renovate their home.

They couple hosted a huge party along with kids Arthur, nine, and Dorothy, eight and capped off the evening with a brilliant firework display to mark the end of a remarkable chapter in their lives.

Fans paid tribute to Dick and Angel for letting them into their lives during their renovation of Chateau de la Motte-Husson.

One person wrote: "Omg I am crying at # escapetothechateau just beautiful, thank you @ @angeladoree for sharing your lovely family and journey with us all. Your inspiration that has inspired me. Happy Christmas to you all xxx."

But fans won't have to wait too long before they see the creative couple back on the box.

Dick and Angel will be seen next year on Channel 4 in Escape to the Chateau: Secret France.

The show will see the pair utilise their experience in the country to show viewers a side of France that tourists rarely see.

Speaking about their new gig, the couple gushed: ""We are so grateful for all the love and support…and we promise to continue our adventures with you, just in a different way, as we venture outside the gates of the Chateau and explore the wonderful country we live in. Escape to the Chateau: Secret France (WT)...next year…we honestly cannot wait...Thank you Channel 4."
