The anticipation is already building for Erling Haaland’s arrival in the Premier League, having had his transfer to Manchester City confirmed ahead of the summer.
Haaland is set to become a City player after the Blues reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to secure one of the hottest properties in world football. The Manchester Evening News understands Haaland has been picked up for around £51million, around £13m cheaper than the £64m release fee that has been widely touted.
Haaland has already established himself as one of the world’s top strikers, having put together a remarkable record first at RB Salzburg and then Dortmund. All eyes will now be on whether he can continue those exploits at the Etihad – here are some of the feats he’s being tipped for upon his move to City.

Top Premier League goalscorer
If there’s one thing that Haaland should definitely bring with him, it’s goals. The Norwegian has an unbelievable record over the years, having continued his exploits after catching the eye at RB Salzburg with 85 goals from 89 appearances during his time in Germany.
Unsurprisingly then, the 21-year-old is being widely tipped to finish his first season in the Premier League as top scorer. You can get him at 4/1 with Coral, 7/2 with Paddy Power, 5/1 with Sky Bet, and 11/4 with Betfair.
PFA Player of the Year
Kevin De Bruyne will be looking to make it a hat-trick of awards this season, having claimed the PFA Player of the Year in both 2020 and 2021. He’ll face stiff competition from Mohamed Salah though, with the Liverpool star having already claimed the FWA’s Player of the Year prize.
They’ll both have to step it up next year if they’re to prevent Haaland getting next year’s award though, if the bookies’ odds are anything to go by. The striker is already being tipped to scoop the top individual award next season, with Paddy Power offering odds of 11/2, while Sky Bet have him at 8/1.
Ballon d’Or
This year’s Ballon d’Or might be out of reach for Haaland, what about next year? With a first full season at City under his belt, the striker could find himself in the running for the biggest individual prize in world football.
His hopes of landing the award will likely rest on how City perform across all competitions, but if he manages to finish as top scorer and claim the PFA award, you’d certainly expect him to stand a chance. Paddy Power have him at 10/1 to win the Ballon d’Or in 2023, while Sky Bet offer odds of 12/1.
Record-breaker
Haaland is clearly expected to take the Premier League by storm with City, so could we even see him breaking some records? The bookies clearly think so.
The Norway international is being backed to bag 30+ goals next season, with Betfair drawing up odds of 3/1 while Sky Bet are offering 9/1, and a staggering 33/1 for him to score 35+. That would see him comfortably beat the record for most goals in single Premier League season.
Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer both currently hold the record with 34 for a 42-game season, while Salah has the record for a 38-game campaign with 32 goals. Haaland is tipped at 10/1 to set a new record with Paddy Power, while Coral offer odds of 25/1.
And even before he’s arrived at the Etihad, there’s already talk of the 21-year-old breaking Shearer’s all-time record of 260. You can gets odds of 16/1 with Paddy Power for Haaland to become the league’s new all-time leading scorer.
