Erling Haaland gives definitive transfer update amid Manchester United links

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has dismissed the idea he could be set to leave the club just six months after joining from Red Bull Salzburg amid transfer links to Manchester United.

The Reds were interested in the Norway international during the January transfer window following his exceptional form for the Austrian side.

However, Haaland opted instead to move to the Bundesliga. The forward has made a blistering start to life in Germany, scoring 16 goals in his first 17 appearances for Dortmund.

Despite only joining the club at the start of the year, Haaland continues to be linked with an exit, with some outlets suggesting Dortmund could cash in on the 19-year-old in the upcoming transfer window. His contract is believed to contain a release clause of around £60million which has reportedly attracted interest from United and Real Madrid.

Haaland has categorically dismissed the idea of leaving Dortmund any time soon and reiterated his intention to win trophies with the German side.

"I live in the present," he told WAZ. "I have just arrived in Dortmund and I’m not thinking of leaving for now.

"Dortmund are one of the biggest clubs in the world. I have signed a long-term contract and I don’t think too much about the future.

"I decide what is the best thing for my career here and now. I want to achieve something important with Borussia, not always be second, but also win the title as soon as possible.

"The next year we set targets, we want to score as many goals, and I as a striker want to contribute."
