Erik ten Hag sends ‘huge ambitions’ message amid Manchester United takeover talk

Erik ten Hag says Manchester United want a team “competing for the highest honours” in the world as reports linking the club with a Qatari takeover continue.

Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), who own Paris Saint-Germain as well as the Shard and Harrods, are expected to lodge a bid for United, with the Glazer Family having confirmed back in November that they would consider a sale.

United’s current owners have set a soft deadline of Friday 17 February for initial bids, although the process will likely take months.

Suitors only need to make a bid in writing and prove they are financially viable to pay their offered amount by the initial deadline.

On the pitch, meanwhile, ten Hag is overseeing a major turnaround. United look set to finish in the top four at least, while they have even been tipped for an unlikely title challenge.

Speaking of a potential takeover, ten Hag said: “What we want is to have a good team, a team that’s competing for the highest [honours] in the world.

“We have huge ambitions and that’s what we want to fulfil.”
