Erik Lamela Rabona: Tottenham sub scores stunning north London derby goal vs Arsenal

Erik Lamela lit up the north London derby with a stunning rabona at Emirates Stadium.

Lamela gave Tottenham the lead with a remarkable piece of skill to send the ball through a host of Arsenal players in the penalty area and past Bernd Leno into the corner.

He struck the ball with his left foot, wrapping it around his standing right to make a pure contact.

Lamela had started the game on the bench but he came off the bench in the opening 20 minutes after Heung min-Son pulled out with a hamstring injury.

It is not the first time the Argentina midfielder has scored with a rabona for Spurs.

He scored a robona effort from outside the area in a Europa League game against Asteras Tripolis at White Hart Lane in 2014. He also scored a similar effort as a youngster at River Plate.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp described the goal as “one of the best goals we have ever seen in the Premier League”.

Redknapp said: “We have seen 30 yarders, great volleys, great team goals, but we have never seen anything like this.

“He did it in a Europa League game a few years back, but to have the audacity to do it in a north London derby, it is absolutely world-class. It is an amazing piece of skill.”
