Eric Bailly delights Manchester United fans with brilliant skill vs Chelsea

If Manchester United fans weren't already delighted to see Eric Bailly back in the first team, they were certainly convinced after a brilliant bit of play to clear up a Chelsea attack.

Bailly was making his first appearance of the season for United after getting injured in pre-season. He lined up alongside Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw in a back three, with Victor Lindelof suffering from illness.

The Ivorian was understandably rusty in the opening stages, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer shouting positional instructions to him as Chelsea started brightly.

However, Bailly came into his own on 36 minutes as Chelsea's Michy Batshuayi got in behind the defence. A Luke Shaw sliding tackle managed to hold Batshuayi up, even if he missed the ball, allowing Bailly to hook the ball off the striker's foot.

Bailly then unleashed a cool stepover to turn back towards goal and deceive Batshuayi, before calmly dribbling out of trouble and passing to Fred and setting up a United break.

The move prompted Sky Sports co-commentator Gary Neville to declare: "From Bailly to Beckenbauer".

Naturally, fans loved the audacity of Bailly's skill in such a dangerous area, and took to Twitter to praise the returning centre-back.

Before the game, Solskjaer explained Bailly inclusion by telling Sky Sports: "Eric is ready, he has been knocking on my door a few times asking when he can get his game. He played a few in the reserves behind closed doors.

"His last game was against Chelsea actually and he should have scored that game. So let's get the pay back!"
