Epstein survivor to travel from LA to meet with Andy Burnham

A woman who was abused by sex offender Jeffrey Epstein will meet Britain's potential next prime minister Andy Burnham next week when she travels to the UK.

Former model Lisa Phillips was 21 when she was preyed upon by the financier over 20 years ago, and has been outspoken in her calls for justice as well as championing other victims.

Now, she is calling for an inquiry into Epstein and his activities in Britain and says Burnham is "interested" in her views, The Sun on Sunday reports.

She said: "A public inquiry is the only way to get to the truth of what’s happened in the UK with Epstein. Andy Burnham has to do it because there’s so much evidence and so many MPs supporting our calls.

"When I meet him I will tell Andy that we need an inquiry into Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and (ex-ambassador to the US) Peter Mandelson.

"An inquiry means they will have to investigate the stories from Epstein’s girls. It might take six years but we have to do it. We need the truth."

Ms Phillips says she was previously offered a meeting with Keir Starmer's chief treasury secretary Darren Jones, but was determined to take her concerns higher up the chain.

Convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein died in a prison cell in New York on August 10, 2019 as he awaited trial on sex trafficking charges.

The US Department of Justice has released over 3.5 million pages of documents related to the disgraced financier.

In May, Surrey Police announced it was investigating two separate allegations of "non-recent child sexual abuse" following the release of the Epstein files in the US.

One allegation, police say, relates to a location in Surrey and Berkshire in the mid 1990s to 2000, while the other allegation relates to the mid to late 1980s in west Surrey.

It is understood that Surrey Police are currently searching for evidence to prove or disprove the claims and has interviewed the alleged victims.

No arrests have yet been made, police say. The investigation is the first by British police relating to Epstein examining alleged harm against females.
