Enzo Maresca passes over Celtic link as he puts all his focus on making Manchester City history

Determined Enzo Maresca admits his sole focus is on delivering silverware to Manchester City as he remains among the favourites to become the next Celtic manager.

The 41-year-old City reserve boss is closing in on the club's first ever Premier League 2 title with his side boasting a five-point lead over nearest challengers Blackburn Rovers.

Maresca - who revealed he he was headhunted for his current role at the Etihad by Pep Guardiola - is a leading candidate with the bookies to be Neil Lennon's permanent successor.

And the Italian is hell-bent on finishing the season with a bang with his red-hot favourites to secure the title.

Speaking to City's official website, he said: "We now have seven more games and have five points (ahead of Blackburn) and we are going to try and be there at the end and fight for the title.

"I think it is something good for everyone here as it would be the first (Premier League 2 title) for the club as well."

"I said from the beginning when I joined the club, I think it is good to develop our players but it’s also good that at the end of every game it is of course always important to win.

"It is something we will try and win and we will try until the end."
