English renewables firm to open Glasgow office, creating 20 jobs

An English renewable energy company has unveiled expansion plans into Scotland, which will see it open an office in Glasgow and create up to 20 jobs over the next 12 months.

Engenera Renewables Group, based in Newcastle, works as a decarbonisation partner with large companies looking to reduce their carbon emissions and operate using cleaner, greener energy.

The business has worked with the likes of Nissan, Eddie Stobart and Faerch Group to develop long-term decarbonisation plans.

In Scotland, the company has already worked with Greenock-based confectionary company Golden Casket, alongside Inverclyde Council and Historic Environment Scotland, to complete a solar installation at its listed-building headquarters.

Engenera stated that it is close to agreeing a number of long-term deals with several public sector bodies in Scotland, including a number of social housing associations.

The Glasgow office will open later this month, with the company starting to recruit for the roles in the Autumn.

The business has invested heavily in its technical skills and expertise. It now works closely with clients on a range of renewable technologies, including commercial solar and battery storage; air and ground source heat pumps; combined heat and power; electric vehicle charging points; and LED lighting.

Engenera is also one of the few renewable energy companies in the UK able to offer renewable energy installations at no capital outlay to customers able to sign power purchase agreements (PPAs). This is because it can access a £100m green bond programme that is financed by multiple PPAs arranged by Engenera.

Lloyd Lawson, chief strategy officer at Engenera, said: “As we start to expand our physical presence, launching in Scotland was a natural move.

“As a proud Scot myself, I am delighted to be able to open this office in Glasgow and it will be exciting to start to hire some fantastic talent and make a real difference to the economy in Scotland – both through job creation and by helping companies embrace green energy.”
