The Lionesses thrashed Jamaica to complete their Euro 2025 preparation in some style at the King Power Stadium. Sarina Wiegman’s side routed the Reggae Girlz, with Ella Toone notching a brace, while Lucy Bronze, Georgia Stanway, Alessia Russo, Aggie Beever-Jones, and Beth Mead all got in on the act.
It was a splendid performance from England, who were, admittedly, not playing the standard of side that they will face in Switzerland, but the win will surely be the perfect morale-booster as they head to Zurich, where they take on France in their first group game.
There was some frustration from talismanic striker Russo as multiple chances passed her by, but the joint-top Women’s Super League goalscorer finally got her name on the scoresheet, as she nodded home Lauren James’ sumptuous delivery.

17:06 , Oli Gent4 mins: Lucy Bronze is getting really high and wide down the right flank, allowing Beth Mead to move infield and add an extra body in the box when the ball is delivered from the left. Expect the right-back to be doing far more attacking than defending this evening.
England 0-0 Jamaica
17:05 , Oli Gent3 mins: England are having most of the early possession, as we’d expect. Their passing needs improving, though, with a couple of wayward balls in these opening minutes.

Wiegman addresses future
16:35 , Oli GentSarina Wiegman issued an update on her future as England manager. She has a contract until 2027, and was asked whether FA chair Mark Bullingham had given her his full backing.
“Of course that's nice,” she said.
“We've had conversations, of course, I extended my contract until 2027, after the World Cup, and we're going into a new tournament now,and I feel very happy here.
“I'm excited to go into a new tournament, not looking too much ahead, but the contracts to 2027, and I've always felt so much support from Mark [Bullingham], and the board and I still feel that way. It's really nice that he confirmed that.
“I think you get these questions all the time in good and bad times. It's just reality now. We're just really excited going to the tournament. We are aware that our group is really, really tough, with incredible teams in it.
“Let's see what what it brings us, but we're gonna do everything to get out of their group.”
Two changes
16:25There are two changes from Wiegman of the side that lost 2-1 to Spain earlier in the month.
Jess Carter comes in at left-back to replace Niamh Charles, while Ella Toone is in in place of Jess Park to add a bit more of a goal threat to the engine room.
Wiegman issues James update
16:20 , Oli GentThe England manager spoke on the Chelsea forward’s fitness in her pre-match press conference yesterday.
"We have to manage the minutes,” she said. “She's doing really well, but of course she hasn't played games yet. But she's in a good place.
"She will likely come off the bench - we can manage that a bit.
"She showed up in the training sessions really well. She could cope with loads and recover from loads.
"Her performance has been really good. She's ready; we're just still growing into minutes. This is the first time in a while that she's coming into a game.
"She needs to get through that. Then we'll take it from there towards the tournament."
Hampton on matching Earps' legacy
16:10 , Oli GentHere is Hannah Hampton on succeeding a great of the game Mary Earps, following in the PSG goalkeeper’s legacy, and making the no1 jersey her own, with Khiara Keating and Anna Moorhouse both breathing down her neck.

England line-up
15:54 , Oli GentConfirmed England XI: Hampton; Bronze, Greenwood, Williamson, Carter; Walsh, Stanway; Mead, Toone, Hemp; Russo.

Wiegman's thoughts on Jamaica
15:45 , Oli GentThe Dutchwoman highlighted the physical challenge that this evening’s opponents will give her side at the King Power Stadium.
“I think they're very physical, they [are] miss[ing] a couple of players, unfortunately, because you really like to play against the best opponent, but I think they'll challenge us physically. They have a pretty direct style of play, so we expect to have the ball and that's where we put a bit more emphasis on.
“Of course you want to do it in every stage of the game you want to do well, but we need to be tight on the ball, we need to be calm on the ball, speed up when we need to speed up, and we really want to create chances as always, but be really well and composed to making the right decisions with the right speed in the final third.”
Wiegman on her squad
15:30 , Oli GentIn her pre-match press conference, the England manager threw down the gauntlet for her side to go and really show what they are about.
“The squad is in good shape. We’ve had two weeks to train, that was really nice. Tomorrow is our last moment in England to show that we’re ready and how ready we are.
“We’re really excited to play the last game before we go into the tournament. You just want to get good connections out of the team and show the level we have at the moment.”
Standard Sport's prediction
15:15 , Oli GentThis should be a relatively straightforward affair for the Lionesses. A morale-booster before they jet off, if you will.
They are at full strength, but don’t be surprised if Wiegman experiments and trials a couple of new ideas out before the tournament.
England to win, 3-0
Jamaica team news
15:03 , Oli GentAs for the Reggae Girlz, they are without a number of key players, including striker Bunny Shaw.
The Manchester City forward was the Women’s Super League joint-top scorer with England’s Alessia Russo last term, but she is out injured with an issue she suffered back in March.
Elsewhere, Liverpool captain Taylor Hinds, Tottenham defender Drew Spence and goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer are also not within their ranks.
England team news
14:49In her pre-match press conference, Wiegman confirmed that every player was ready to play 90 minutes - barring Lauren James.
The Chelsea forward is still building her fitness up ahead of the tournament, and will not be rushed back to play a full match. Expect her off the bench this evening.
Otherwise, everyone is available in an exciting encounter ahead of their big departure for Switzerland!
