England team selector: Pick your starting XI for France World Cup quarter-final

Gareth Southgate has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to picking his England team to face France in the World Cup quarter-finals tonight... so who will be the odd ones out?

With Argentina set to face Croatia in the first of the two confirmed semi-final ties, England or France will take on either Portugal or Morocco in the other last-four spot. England started slowly in their last-16 match with Senegal, but once the Three Lions got going they cruised to a comprehensive 3-0 victory on Sunday night to set up a mouth-watering tie with world champions France on Saturday night. Southgate only made one change from the starting XI which beat Wales 3-0, but it was a big one: Marcus Rashford scored twice against the Welsh to take his tally for the finals to three goals, but the Manchester United forward was ruthlessly dropped as Bukayo Saka returned.

While Saka starred in the opener vs Iran, the Arsenal forward was quiet against USA and lost out to Rashford for the Wales match. However, it speaks to the options that Southgate has that Saka returned with an excellent display against the Senegalese, scoring to take his finals tally to three and proving a constant menace.

Now Southgate faces another big call as England have to find a way to stop World Cup holders France this evening... and Kylian Mbappe in particular. Mbappe's two sweet strikes in Les Bleus' 3-1 win over Poland took him onto five goals in Qatar, and nine World Cup finals goals in total to take him joint 14th in the all-time standings - just seven behind Miroslav Klose's record of 16... and all at the age of 23.

The rest of Southgate's team looks set barring the attack, but will the manager shake things up again? Does Rashford come back in, or perhaps Jack Grealish could cause the French havoc? Will Southgate double up on Mbappe to stop the PSG star, or could he rip up his starting XI and go with a three-man defence we've seen before... or bring in the likes of Kalvin Phillips for extra cover?

We want to know what you think. Choose your starting XI to take on France below and once you're done, you can compare it with your fellow fans' line-ups - and don't forget to have your say in the comments section here .
