England launch retro-style 1990 black shirt ahead of Euro 2020

England have launched a retro-style black kit that is inspired by the strip worn by the Three Lions at the 1990 World Cup.

The nation watched on as the side led by Sir Bobby Robson reached the semi-finals in Italy.

Paul Gascoigne and co were denied on penalties by the Germans in what would become an all too familiar feeling for England fans.

England donned the classic white kit and Score Draw - officially licensed by The FA to produce a range of popular retro kits - have come up with a new Black Out shirt to celebrate the design.

Three decades ago the Three Lions produced their best performance in a major tournament since their 1966 success.

David Platt's last minute goal against Belgium in the quarter-finals remains an iconic moment.

A then 23-year-old Gazza looked as if he could power England to glory, but his yellow card in the semi-final produced tears in a moment that resonated with many.

Now Gareth Southgate's side are gearing up for this summer's delayed European Championships and optimism is high.

Several of the stars who are set to feature in June and July have been pictured wearing the retro black top.

Raheem Sterling and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have been snapped with the strip whilst Jesse Lingard wears red.

England will play all three of their Euro 2020 group matches as Wembley.

They kick-off their campaign against Croatia on June 13. They then face old rivals Scotland five days later before playing the Czech Republic on June 22.

The Three Lions are among the favourites to win the tournament having reached the semi-finals of the World Cup in Russia three years ago.

Southgate's side will face stiff competition though with France, Belgium and Portugal all hungry for glory.
