'Severe' damage to a gas main outside Old Trafford has been fixed in time for Manchester United's game on Saturday.
Engineers were called to a gas leak on Monday.
The gas was escaping from a hole on a 10-inch diameter cast iron main on John Gilbert Way, just outside the entrance to one of the main car parks.
The pipe had been damaged by a third party working in the road.
Teams from Cadent arrived on site quickly and a temporary repair to stop the leak was completed within hours.
Expert contractors were then booked in to carry out a permanent fix, using 'encapsulation'.
The work was undertaken on Wednesday, and after the necessary 24 hours grace to allow the bonding materials to cure, the teams will be off-site.
This removes any concerns about access for fans attending Manchester United's showdown again Leicester City this Saturday.

Dan Young, repair team leader for Cadent, said: “There was a lot of gas coming from this damaged main and to fix it and be off site within a few days is really good going.
"Excellent team work from start to finish, and gets us off site before United’s game on Saturday.”
The Premier League returns this weekend after the international break and Leicester arrive at Old Trafford on Saturday three points clear of Manchester United .
The side are also unbeaten.
The match kicks off at 3pm.
