Emmitt Smith’s son E.J. Smith includes Ohio State in his top five

There’s been a lot of blue-chip recruits including Ohio State in their final list of schools lately, but some just grab your attention more than others. Count this one in that bucket.

Have you heard of Emmitt Smith? You know, the Hall of Fame former Cowboy running back? Yes, that one. Well, he has a son and he’s pretty good too. At 5-11, 198 lbs, the younger Smith has a body like dad’s and is currently rated as the No. 4 rated all-purpose back in the class of 2020 according to 247Sports.

Well, he just released his final five programs and guess which program is included. That’s right. Your Ohio State Buckeyes are a part of that list along with Stanford, Florida, Texas A&M, and Georgia.

Now, buyer beware — this is a top five list and doesn’t necessarily mean a final five. There’s still time for other teams to get in the mix here, and being one of five is a lot different than one of a final two or so.

With so many top tailbacks taking a look at Ohio State, you have to wonder what will be the first domino to fall. At this point, not getting in on the mix with guys like Smith here, or guys like Zachary Evans, Kendall Milton, or Bijan Robinson would be a major disappointment.

Still, it’s great to have the son of an NFL Hall of Famer looking at OSU. As more news breaks on this, we’ll be on top of it.
