Emmerdale viewers complain to Ofcom as Leyla Cavanagh caught red handed

Emmerdale viewers threatened to complain to Ofcom as Leyla Cavanagh's drug addiction was exposed.

Tuesday's edition of the long-running soap continued to explore the character's difficult time in the fictional village. Leyla is married to village doctor Liam Cavanagh - and the couple have struggled since Liam's daughter, Leanna, was murdered by Meena Jutla last summer.

Leyla has since suffered a miscarriage - and the turbulent situation has prompted her to turn to drugs. She has since been dealing with her worsening addiction issues over the past few months.

Leyla has been planning Kim Tate's wedding, but her erratic behaviour prompted Kim to sack her in tonight's s h ow. Leyla responded to the stressful situation by taking cocaine.

However, she left the door unlocked and was caught red-handed by David Metcalfe. The character, played by Matthew Wolfenden, was shocked by the revelation and vowed to tell her husband so she could get the necessary help.

Leyla pleaded with David and convinced him to change his mind after she said the news would destroy her marriage. However, viewers following the show on Twitter were taken aback by the scenes of drug use in the latest episode.
