Emmerdale to air special men-only episode amid heart-wrenching Paddy storyline

Emmerdale is set to air a powerful episode exclusively featuring its male cast members for the first time ever.

In upcoming scenes that will air next month, Marlon Dingle will set up a late-night lock-in for male residents at the Woolpack so they can speak openly about mental health.

It comes as they recently discovered that Paddy was contemplating ending his own life following his marriage breakdown.

Paddy recently fled the village following his split from Chas, he is now back home safely and Marlon wants to do anything to help his friend recover and wants to encourage the other men to open up.

Speaking about the episode Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw said: "When we embarked on this heartbreaking storyline about Paddy's depression and attempted suicide we knew we wanted to shine a light on how important it is to just talk.

"Inspired by listening to real stories from the charity Andy's Man Club, we decided to have some of the men in our village come together for a very special episode which purely focuses on them and [sees] them talking about whatever they are feeling or thinking.

"If watching some of our most loved characters opening up to each other encourages just one person to reach out and start talking, we will be extremely thankful."

For this ongoing storyline, Emmerdale has been working with mental health charities Samaritans and Andy’s Man Club.

This will be the first time in Emmerdale's history that the soap will feature an all male episode. In 2019, the soap aired an all-female episode in celebration of International Women's Day.

This special all-male episode of Emmerdale will air on Friday, March 10.
