Emmerdale teen Cathy disappears after manic episode as 'concerning' diagnosis revealed

Emmerdale spoilers reveal troubled teen Cathy Hope disappears briefly next week, as she struggles with her possible diagnosis.

Doctor Manpreet Sharma and nurse Wendy Posner make a breakthrough, as they work out what could be happening with Cathy.

After months of symptoms and her acting out of character, events lead to devastating scenes as Cathy experiences a manic episode and is taken to hospital in upcoming episodes.

In the fallout, Manpreet is left concerned as she comes to a conclusion regarding a diagnosis for Cathy.

When Cathy learns the truth she runs off leaving her family worried, but her dad Bob soon finds her and does his best to support his daughter.

It all begins in the fallout to the teen's hospital visit, months after she began experiencing struggles with her mental health.

As well as having heavy periods, Cathy has been feeling down and scared and as though she "hates everything".

Cathy has being causing trouble for her dad Bob and lashing out, while not physically at anyone, with her also experiencing angry outbursts.

Desperate for help and to find out what is happening to her, she recently confided in doctor Manpreet and her stepmother Wendy, as well as Bob's business partner Bernice Blackstock.

Recent scenes have seen her struggles worsen, with her suffering a manic episode and leaving her life in danger with a reckless decision.

In the fallout, spoilers reveal that next week Cathy's loved ones will rally around her as she learns what her diagnosis is likely to be.

Manpreet shares her concern for Cathy regarding the implications of the diagnosis, as she comes to the conclusion she might be suffering from Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder.

The condition causes a range of emotional and physical symptoms a week or two before the period starts, and is a more severe form of premenstrual syndrome.

Cathy is stunned to hear it could affect her for decades, as she overhears what the condition is and what the implications might be.

Bob decides not to tell Cathy this hypothetical diagnosis until it can be confirmed, as Manpreet doesn't give a definitive conclusion while she does believe she has reached a diagnosis.

But Cathy walks in explaining she’s heard everything, and when Bob tells her they’ll get through it a broken-hearted Cathy isn’t ready to hear him.

Instead, she runs off leaving her dad concerned as he can't find her anywhere and no one has seen her since the revelation.

Bob eventually finds his devastated daughter, and vows to support her in any way he possibly can.

As he does his best to reassure her, determined to support his daughter through it all, will Cathy let him?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
