Emmerdale's Zoë Henry glad she doesn't have scenes with co-star husband on ITV soap

Emmerdale star Zoë Henry loves that she doesn't have any scenes with her co-star husband on the ITV soap.

Actress Zoë - who plays Rhona on the ITV soap - is married to Jeff Hordley, who stars as Cain Dingle on the programme, and whilst their personal lives are very much intertwined, their soap characters are worlds apart.

Appearing on ITV's Lorraine today to discuss the new storyline involving Marlon Dingle's stroke recovery, Zoë joked about her lack of working with her real-life husband Jeff as she teased there were big storylines coming up for her other half very soon.

Zoe joked she's happy that her and her husband don't have scenes together (ITV)

As Lorraine noted that her and Jeff barely had any scenes together, she instantly quipped back: "Which is great. We have a separate existence at work and we like that. We often do line learning together."

She also revealed having separate scenes and filming schedules worked quite well for the pair, as whilst she has been busy filming these scenes, her husband has been able to focus on the home, whilst she can do the same when things start to build for Cain.

It comes after Jeff admitted there was a "beauty" to the pair not working together.

"We are not the kind of people to harbour grudges so I can honestly say we haven't had a time on set where we have said, 'I'm not speaking to you at the moment'. That's never really happened," he said.

"Zoey plays the vet on Emmerdale but the beauty of her character and my character is that she works at a different part of the village to me with a different set of people in the village, so I very rarely work with her."

He added: "I only see her sometimes at a Woolpack scene and it's fine, I think people kind of know we are all right and know us quite well at work as we have been there for a while."

Whilst they might not spend much time on set together, the pair are closer than ever away from the show.

"We like cooking a lot so we have done a lot of that [in lockdowns]. We have got on each other's nerves at times because we have been together for such a long time and know each other so well," he shared.
