Emmerdale's Meena set for sinister return - with help from surprise character

Emmerdale actress Paige Sandhu has teased killer Meena Jutla's explosive return for the special 50th Anniversary episode - with the help from another character.

Murderous nurse Meena was finally jailed in April after taking the courtroom hostage and threatening to kill sister Manpreet.

Thankfully for the villagers, her plan to escape was foiled.... but it looks like she'll be back to terrorise the Dales once again.

Quizzed on whether she would be back for the ITV soap's golden anniversary, Paige told the Mirror: "I never say never. With Emmerdale, everything is up in the air - it's gonna be the biggest and best year yet. I can't say much yet, so we'll see."

Asked whether she would like a twist for Meena after it was revealed the prison guard on her ward was Ian Beeker - the man who was going to help her escape before, she said: "Well of course, anything. I've loved playing Meena and I think she is so manipulative - I wouldn't put it past her twisting him around her little finger or another prison guard or anyone.

"I think right now she's in prison, she's been in prison, she's living it up, she's going to find her escape room and she's going to come back..."

Opening up about whether she would plot revenge on Beeker after discovering he crossed her, she said: "Oh of course. She's going to make him pay. Because to her, she always wants to win and she hasn't this time. So there's going to be a lot of rage."

Paige is also keen for a Bad Girls-style spin-off for Meena, saying: "I would love to have a spin-off! Are you kidding me? I would love to! Someone did a petition for a Meena spin-off. I don't know how well that did. I think if there is a spin-off it would do really well!"

Further hinting at her Emmerdale return, Paige remained tight-lipped on where fans would see her next: "I can't see much but keep your eye out."
