Emmerdale's Mark Charnock makes plea to fans

Emmerdale actor Mark Charnock is asking fans to watch a special programme this Christmas, for a very good reason.

The star is best known for playing Marlon Dingle in the long-running ITV soap, after first appearing on the Dales in 1996. Recent episodes have seen Marlon embark on a long recovery after having a stroke.

The important and emotional storyline has seen the star win a number of awards.

In a TV role very different from his Emmerdale job, Mark will be singing alongside his co-stars for a very important reason. He, along with Lisa Riley, Daisy Campbell, Jay Kontzle, Lawrence Robb, Bradley Johnson and Olivia Bromley, will take part in ITV's Get Britain Singing on Christmas Eve.

Urging fans to tune in, Mark shared a preview snap of the show on Instagram. He said: "8.05pm @ITV Christmas Eve, it’s time for #BritainGetSinging We are up against some amazing choirs from other shows and it’s all to raise awareness around mental health.

"I love this gang. @lisajaneriley @bradjakejohnson @daisycampbellofficial @oliviabromley_ @lawrencejarobb @jkontzle What an amazing thing to be part of. Xxx"

Fans were clearly thrilled by the update. Shaz said: "Cannot wait", while Lynda said: "Can't wait to watch that". Mary said: "Definitely watching this".

Stars from other shows such as Love Island, Loose Women and Corrie will also take part in the programme.
