Emmerdale's Danny Miller takes swipe at Stephen Mulhern over Ant & Dec's NTA Awards absence

The National Television Awards 2022 are in full swing and Emmerdale’s Danny Miller couldn’t help but make a cheeky dig at Stephen Mulhern as he addressed Ant and Dec’s absence at the NTAs.

Ant and Dec were forced to miss tonight's show after catching Covid , which means the popular presenters will be stuck at home watching proceedings on ITV like the rest of us.

Even though they were absent they are still nominated for a number of awards. The first award up for grabs was the Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award.

Ru Paul’s Drag race judge Michelle Visage and Strictly Come Dancing’s Oti Mabuse presented the award. Up for the special award was. Taskmaster, Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! And The Graham Norton Show.

ITV’s I’m A Celebrity won the entertainment award with former stars and Danny Miller, who won the show last year, accepted the award on Ant and Dec’s behalf.

He started off addressing the presenting duo’s absence and couldn’t help but make a cheeky dig at Stephen Mulhern for not accepting the award on their behalf.

He said: “Although Stephen Mulhern is in the audience, I'm not sure why he's not up here accepting it for them (Ant and Dec).”

The actor then added: “A massive thank you to everyone that voted and Ant and Dec for making the show. A massive thanks to the cast and crew and I hope you all have the best night.”

Viewers at home picked up on the Stephen dig and went straight to social media to share their reaction. @trav3lboi Tweeted: “Woah! That wasn’t good Danny!?! #NTAs.”

@PollyCracker92 commenced: “Not Danny Miller throwing shade at our Stephen #NTAs.2

@SaraBtweet1 wrote: “That was a bit of a weird dig from Danny towards Stephen wasn’t it? #NTAs.”

@beckycoll23 said: “#NTAs what was that dig at Stephen Mulhern about? He obviously didn't come and accept the award on their behalf because he's got nothing to do with I'm a Celeb? Seems an unnecessary comment by Danny.”
